Following extended employment within Transport for London (23 years) Walter provided part time contracting work to the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) in the UK for three years, was used as a Subject Matter Expert by the Railway and Transport Strategy Centre at Imperial College London on work they are doing for the Metro Rio in Brazil. He also did some work for Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) through Third Horizon Consulting Partners in Australia.
Rail Delivery Group (United Kingdom) – July 2012 to March 2016
Management consultancy and programme management services to the Rail Delivery Group (RDG). Programme managed the Asset, Programme and Supply Chain Management (APSCM) work stream (part of the RDG), three days a week to facilitate the identification and delivery of whole industry efficiencies and value for money to the taxpayer through better alignment of incentives and closer working together across the industry.
Transport for New South Wales (Australia) – Part time December 2012 to April 2013
Subject matter expert (SME) supporting Third Horizon Consulting Partners (based in Sydney) on a project for Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) for the development of a new fault attribution process. In February 2012, the Australian Government announced its intention to reform rail services in New South Wales (NSW). This resulted in a significant change to the rail service operating model with the introduction of two new Rail entities to provide rail services in NSW from July 2013, namely NSW Trains and Sydney Trains.
